My Go to Running App

Monday, August 31, 2015

Hey everyone,

Today I have a post I think you will really enjoy, especially if you're a fitness lover. It's about an up and coming app called Heat Running. This isn't your normal running app that tracks your distance. Before I get into the details, I want to share with you the story of Arya Farzin, the co-founder of the app.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Arya personally and listen to him share his story with me. Basically, he was over weight all of his life and he decided to take a stand and actually do something about it. At his highest weight, he managed to switch his environment and habits in order to accomplish his goal of being a healthier person. However, just losing his own weight wasn't enough for him. He yearned for more, to help people who were in the position he was too. He ended up developing an app called Heat Running.

If you're like me, a college student with a part time job and you don't have a gym membership for whatever the reason may be, you MUST check out this app. Now to get into all the juicy details. This app, I believe is unlike any other fitness app that I've come across. It makes running a better experience because you're not running by yourself. Basically, the technology that they use, can have you "racing" someone from across the country or across the world. What's great about this, is that you don't have to wait for someone else to join the "race" in order to participate. The app collects everyone's data from whatever length race they want to do, and it matches your time frame according to people with almost the same general time frame. Meaning that, if you're running a one mile race, the app will collect the speed in which you run it, therefore matching you with other "runners" who are in the time frame for a friendly competition. What's cool is that the app also keeps the data from your races and you can do the races to compete with your own best score! What I also found very interesting about the app, is that there is kind of like 3 different levels. When you first choose a race, you can choose to run it "normally" or either "push yourself" or "relax" a bit. I assume thats meaning the time frame in which you are running, therefore it will be easy to match you up with similar people.

After gaining weight myself, I tried working out at the gym and working out at home. Both didn't work for me because I never felt fully comfortable. I can take advantage of the gym on my campus, so I don't have to worry about finding a place to lift, if I choose to do so. However, running was something I always wanted to get into. I love the whole idea behind this app because it's like people coming from all over can race you, without actually having to be there with you. It's kind of like you're getting the opportunity to run and workout with other people, instead they aren't actually in person with you. So it brings the fun of competition without having to actually compete in person. I love the idea that their system matches you up with people who run around the same time frame as you as well.  This app is currently FREE to download, just search "Heat Running" and you will find the app. Don't forget to check out their website here too.

My Go To Body Scrub

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Hey everyone,

Um.. It's been a while.. Hasn't it? I know, how can I write a post about handling blogging and school and then fall behind on my blog! A lot has happened in the past few months, and I'll give the details at a later time. For right now, I want to share with you my favorite go to body scrub.

I've tested out a few body scrubs before and they were pretty good. The only downside was the feeling I got after washing the scrub off of my actual body. Sometimes my skin would feel very smooth afterwards, but other times, it wouldn't feel so good at all. It seems like Dead Sea products are all the rage nowadays. I tried a dead sea mud mask and I LOVED it so much. Of course I had to try out a dead sea salt body scrub too!

This lovely company called Adovia sold through goPURE Naturals was able to provide me with their Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub. (You can find this bad boy on Amazon). You can get it right now for $13 with Amazon Prime. What's good about this scrub is that it not only exfoliates your skin, but it also provides moisture to the skin with the oil that is used.

The container holds 11oz of product. This is what the body scrub looks like when you open the container. What's good about this is that there isn't a high oil to dead sea salt ratio. So when you use it, you're not using too much oil on your skin. It's enough to scrub your body, yet enough oil to moisturize your skin.

I've tried other body scrubs, even homemade ones. This combination of natural oils and the dead sea salt makes you want to relax and take a nap right after using it. It soothes your skin even when you dry off so there isn't a need to put lotion on, unless you're personally still feeling dry. What's also great about this product, is that it is perfect for using before you want to shave your legs. That way you're taking away your dead skin cells before you shave the hairs off and you can get a smoother finish. Adovia has a product range consisting of different products made up of dead sea mud and dead sea salt. You can check out all their products out on Amazon or you can check them out here. I highly recommend trying out this body scrub and I'm looking forward to purchasing some more products to try out. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon.
