Michelle Phan Makeup Book Review

Monday, January 12, 2015

Hey everyone,

Today I have a review for you on Michelle Phan's new book, Makeup: Your Life Guide To Beauty, Style, and Success - Online and Off.

First off, I will say this about the size of any regular common book. The only difference is the texture of the pages and the font choices that Michelle chose to use. They really reflect her personality. The only thing was that I'm too scared to try and highlight anything in the book because I'm not sure if the highlight will stick or if it will smear. I don't want to ruin a good book because I tried to do something. If you tried it out, how did it work out for you? Leave a comment down below and let me know please.

Her book contains about 10 chapters, an introduction, Ask Mish, and a Good Luck message.

  1. My Life So Far, Part One
  2. My Life So Far Part Two
  3. Skin Care Savvy
  4. Makeup Basics and Beyond
  5. Hair and Nails Know-How
  6. Fashion Tips and Tricks
  7. Digital Do's and Don'ts
  8. Find (and keep) a Job you love
  9. Turn your passion into a Profession
  10. Modern Manners Made Easy
  11. Ask Michelle
  12. Good Luck!
The book is around 220 pages and not only includes the above list, but also includes mini tips and has lots of pictures scattered throughout the book. This book is perfect for a young teen girl or adult, who is just getting into having a beauty routine. Michelle really guides you through everything from all hair care and skin care, to makeup tips and how to create your digital world. There are tips not only for makeup, but how to try and establish yourself and make a career out of passion.

I really wish I had this book when I was growing up because it's inspirational in some ways and it could have led me down a better path than some of the ones I've chosen. This is perfect "basics" book because that's what it basically is. The basic tips and tricks with some added specials to help you. It even provides you with help for your style, going as far as having different outfits set up for different professions.

Michelle really put her soul into this book and it was like all of her helpful videos, tips included, brought into one book. The basic book I would like to call it. I would love to read more books from Michelle. The book really indulged you and even though it was a little more, already know some knowledge, for me, it did help me out in areas that I didn't see were important. Again this is a great book for someone who is just getting started with their young adult life and needs a guidance. Here are some more pictures.

Overall, I think that this is a great book but definitely a book for someone younger than someone whose already graduated college. It's a lifestyle book that I believe can help you acquire better habits and develop your persona younger rather than when you're older. The book is worth the money and is even discounted, you can purchase here. What did you think about the book? Did you like it? Leave a comment down below and let me know. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon!

Blogilates Beginners Calendar Update

Thursday, January 8, 2015

Hey everyone!

For a while now, I've been meaning to do an update on how my I did during my Blogilates Beginner Calendar. If you aren't familiar with Blogilates, make sure to check out the website.

Blogilates is basically Pop Pilates. Instead of listening to music that is slow paced, Blogilates workouts consists of effective exercises with fun upbeat music! It's definitely a fun workout to do and you definitely get your sweat worth! The music is songs that you are familiar with and with Cassey's awesome personality, it's like she's in your house or gym working out with you!

What I loved the most about the workouts that they weren't a lot, but they were enough for someone first starting off. They were definitely fun and Cassey's spirit just helps along the way. In the beginning it was very hard and often times I wanted to quit, but I pushed myself through it and it worked out for me in the end! My favorite workouts were ABC Abs, Feel Good Soul Stretches, and The 100 workout.

So not only are their stretches, but there are workouts on different days that focus on different body parts. From total body, to legs, and arms. She also includes a day to rest, which is the 7th day of whenever you start the workout. That day usually consists of some stretching videos to loosing you up for the next week.

My results:

Overall, after finishing this calendar and missing a few days, I was actually able to lose 8lbs. That was really surprising to me considering that I didn't eat as healthy as I did and I was only doing her workouts. The only thing I can say that I did was drink a lot of water. I mean a lot of it. I did try to do her 12 week plan, but it was inexpensive for me and I had a hard time trying to find some of the ingredients for the meals. And face it, Cassey could probably cook all those meal a heck of a lot better than I can!

The only thing that I really had trouble with, is that I live in an apartment complex on the 2nd floor, so some of the exercises that did require a lot of movement was hard for me to do. I'm one of those neighbors that cares too much if you have to hear what I'm doing, especially when it comes to exercising. So this is great if you live at home and you don't feel comfortable working out in a gym.

What's great is that all the videos are available on YouTube as well! I did this about a month before I started school and a little bit in the beginning, when things were easier. It was definitely a great thing to do before I took my Strength and Personal Fitness classes and my University. I was able to workout without being too out of breathe like I normally would of been. Not to brag or anything.. but I was the best at planks too. Thanks Cassey;).

If you want to start getting into pilates, then Blogilates is the way to go! I even had my boyfriend do some of the workout and stretches. Not only will you increase your flexibility, but as you know it, you will also increase your strength because everything is mostly done with just your body weight. If you start to become a pro, you even add weights for even more endurance. I love Blogilates and I wish I had my own place so that I could freely do it when you want. When you a semi big family and live in an apartment complex, it can be really hard to have privacy and do what you want to do. So thank you Cassie for giving me something I can do at home when the gym just simply isn't a possibility. If you are looking to try this out I highly suggest it and there is a new Beginners Blogilates calendar out, so if you would like me to try that and review it, leave a comment down below. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon!

Kiss InstaWave Review

Sunday, January 4, 2015

Hey everyone,

Today I have for you a review on the Kiss InstaWave. This is a curling tool that curls your hair for you. This product is available at Ulta and Target and costs $59.99.

The system is a tool that curls your hair for you. When testing what actually "turns" on the products for your hair to curl, I noticed that the barrel doesn't move at all. It is the short little pieces surrounding the barrel that actually moves. As you can see from the picture, there are main ones surrounding the barrel, and then there is one that you actually put your hair under so that it will curl.

As you can see in the picture, you want to get the section of hair behind that. I also found that if you get your hair behind this one AND two of the main short pieces, you have a better chance of having a good curl. There are two temperatures, high and low. You also have a button to put to curl your hair to either side, it doesn't matter as long as your hair is behind the middle piece. It includes ceramic ion technology and it automatically shuts off after 30 min.

This is what my hair looked liked when I was actually able to get the tool to curl my hair around the barrel. It looks messy and it will look messy when you're curly it. There is no pretty way for this to work lol. Don't be alarmed though because the tool is working fine just as long as you don't feel it pulling on your hair. If you do feel it pulling on your hair, just STOP, and press the opposite button that you used, while pulling down. Trust me, just stay calm and it will easily let go if it does happen to get stuck. Also, you can tell when your hair is actually wrapping around the tool or just spinning along the edge.

First thing that I want to mention when talking about this product, is that I do have very thick and coarse hair. I tried this out when I freshly straightened my hair and even trying to do this is 3 sections, was still hard. I find that the best way to get a nice curl from this, is using the product on a tilt or on the side and holding for as long as your hair requires. Since my hair is very thick, I held mine for a little over 10 seconds. It sounds crazy, but yes. Even in small sections, I have to keep heat on my hair a little longer to get a curl. Also, the type of curl you want will depend on how long you keep your hair in the barrel. Longer time for tighter curls and less time for loose curls.

Overall, I think that this is a great product. The idea is so innovated and I think is a great tool for someone who needs helps curling their hair, like I do. This is a product that you definitely want to make sure you take some time out to practice. When you first try it out, everything is a hit or miss and it's hard to duplicate the same technique you've done if you're still testing it ya know? I think that this product is definitely worth trying out and once you master it for your hair type, you will have no problems. This is a great piece to add in your collection especially if you're not good with traditional curling wands. Would you try this? If you have anymore questions regarding this product, feel free to comment down below. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon!
