Em Cosmetics: Scribble liquid liner Review

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Hey Everyone,

If you know me and I mean really know me, you will know that I love a killer wing. What better tool to do an awesome wing with than liquid liner! I was so excited for Em Cosmetics liquid liners because they finish matte and are super long lasting. I enjoy gel liners as well, but there's nothing like that perfect liquid liner. When Em Cosmetics launched their liner, I just had to get 3. The 3 most basic eyeliner colors that I know I will probably use on almost a daily basis, are black, brown, and white to be adventurous!

The three colors that I got from Em Cosmetics are Tattoo Black, Black Coffee, and Snow. Black eyeliner is definitely my signature look, so I had to use that one first of course. The only one that I haven't fully gone out and wore yet, was Snow. That's only because it's a little difficult to plan a casual eye look with white liner. What kind of look do you think you could do with white liner? Leave a comment down below letting me know.

Lets get started with the review. I'm going to review the product in 4 different categories. Longevity, Quality, Texture, and Opaqueness.

  • Longevity- When I say this eyeliner can last long hours, I'm talking 8 in the morning until 5 at night. Once the eyeliner is on and set, it isn't budging anywhere. Unless you have Mulan's makeup remover. I can even fall asleep with the liner on and at least half of it will still be on. It's really great if you want an eyeliner that you don't have to worry about fixing every now and then.

  • Texture- The texture of this liner is just like any liquid liner. Smooth to glide on and of course wet. It's a liquid and feels exactly like a liquid liner except I feel it's a lot softer than most eyeliners. Liquid eyeliners tend to irritate my skin, I have sensitive skin, and this liner doesn't really irritate it at all. Since it also dries Matte, you can use the Black Coffee liner if you want a softer line and not so heavy as with black. However, Tattoo Black dries matte as well and it does bring a softer look to it than other black liners which I love. I can still wear my classic wing and not have to worry about it looking too dramatic. The matte just makes it look all that better.

  • Opaqueness- Being that this product is a liquid liner, you better hope that the color comes out well. It does, don't be scared. The color is very vivid. Even Snow comes out pretty well on a medium to deep skin tone like myself. With Black Coffee, it's very easy to mistake it for an off black. It does tend to look more on the black side than it does the coffee. Still, it's very good to use for a soft makeup look. Sometimes it looks as if you have to double it up, however, that's only because it doesn't look as bold when it dries and you might get confused. Other than that, the color quality is just great.

  • Quality- The overall quality of Em scribble liquid liner is amazing. It's a smooth application, can be forgiven if you fix it right away as well. It's not too harsh, so you can always rock a wicked wing without being too dramatic in the day time. You can use other colors such as Snow to make a more whimsical look too. To me liquid liner is more for the advance with a steady hand, but with practice, anyone can master liquid liner.
Overall, I give Em Cosmetics: Scribble liquid liner at perfect 5 out of 5 starts!

Have you ever tried this liquid liner? How do you feel about it? Leave a comment below letting me know what you think about it. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon!

"Celebration" Ipsy's December 2013 Glam Bag

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Hey lovelies,

It's been 2 months since I blogged about Ipsy's glam bags. It was a busy semester.. It's almost the end of December and I wanted to get this blog out before the new year. This month's glam bag is called Celebration. The bag is a sleek, shiny black clutch with a 3d texture going around. It's super cute and definitely a great clutch to bring to any party. This month featured products from POP Beauty, Be a Bombshell, Nicka K New York, NYX, Ardell, Mirabella, English Laundry, Andrea, Salon Perfect, Demeter, J. Cat Beauty, Jesse's Girl, and Starrily. That's a big variety of brands huh? Some of them I haven't even heard of before. The products in this month's bag all have to do with going out to a celebration and getting the best look! The different products that you could of gotten were an eyeshadow trio, nail polish, eyelashes, lipstick, perfume, lip pencil, eyeshadow brush, or an all in one blush stick.

Because of Ipsy match, I got certain colors and products in my glam bag for this month. What Ipsy match is is basically a questionnaire that helps to pick out what products and colors are perfect you. They are based on questions like your skin color, eye color, and what type of looks you like. Depending on your answer, you'll get a bag that was picked best for you. If you're not happy with what you get, you can leave feedback on all the products you get to help customize your bag better. You can even retake the quiz but it has be before the 1st of the them month to ensure you'll get different products.

This month was probably my favorite bag of all time because everything in it was just perfect. I got the POP Beauty eyeshadow trio in Smokin Hot, the Be a Bombshell one stick in Girl Crush, a Nicka K New York nail polish in Classic Taupe, NYX extra creamy round lipstick in Iced Honey, and Ardell Demi 120 lashes. To me, it's the perfect bag for New Years. The eyeshadow is shimmery, the lips and cheeks nice and neutral, hot chocolate nails and some falsies to put it all together. What more could you want for a great glam bag?!

First, the Pop Beauty eyeshadow trio in Smokin Hot. At first seeing some videos of Ipsy's other glam girls using the trio, I thought the black shadow was a little more matte. To my surprise though, everything is simmer. When I say shimmer, my gosh! Fall out will definitely happen if you don't use a light hand or something underneath your eye to catch it all. After I was finished using it, I was a little hesitant only because I don't like to use that much shimmering eyeshadow. I personally prefer a matte. You can definitely use a matte color first and apply a matching shimmer shadow from the trio to amp it up a bit. It was overall easy to blend and the more you add, the more the color will show up. So it is good if you want to play around with a smokey eye because you can build up the intensity a little at a time.

Next is the Be a Bombshell all in one stick in the color Girl Crush. I was reading up on some of the comments on Ipsy, and a few of the girls were saying that you can also use this as a blush, lipstick, and eyeshadow. Overall, it's very smooth and creamy. Even to the lips, it feels very soft. It gives my cheeks a nice flustered look to it without making it look unnatural. The look I want with this bag was matched perfect with the shade I got. It's going to help focus on my eyes without the rest of my face taking over. The only thing is, I wouldn't just apply it in a bunch at one spot. You can easily blend it yes, but it looks like it's sticking into your pores and gives sort of a cakey look.

For the perfect nails, I'm so happy I got the Nicka K New York nail polish in the color Classic Taupe. This is the perfect hot chocolate color for your nails. That's instantly what it reminded me off. Especially when my boyfriend offered me hot chocolate and it was funny how alike they looked. To make it more festive, I added some of Em Cosmetics sparkling facet in the color moonlight shimmer. This will glam up the nail design without taking away from the color. Just put a line of it near the tip and it sprinkle it a little down. This may just be my new favorite nail color.

For the lips, NYX round creamy lipstick in the color Iced Honey. Usually, nude type lipsticks doesn't really flatter my skin tone. It's hard to find that perfect combination for a good lip color. This lipstick is more of a pinkish nude. I tried putting it on top of this pink matte lipstick at first, and it didn't look that good. Maybe if I put it on top of that Be a Bombshell one stick it will give me the perfect nude. If not, I will just have to play around some more or choose a different lip color. It is very soft to the lips and gives you the right amount of shimmer. It's not overpowering but it's not dull either.

Last but not least, the Ardell Demi's in 120. I wanted to try Ardell Demi's for a while now and I didn't want to purchase a lot without trying it out first. I was so happy when I found out that I would be getting it in my bag. Some people say they don't look natural at all. Yes, looking at them without putting them on first, they don't look that natural. However, After putting them one, they weren't as dramatic as I thought they would be. From the side you can see the long lashes and such but up front, it just look like you have some really great lashes. It was my first time trying falsies and the glue it came with worked pretty well too. I definitely want to invest in some more of these lashes.

As a whole, this was a great month for me! I loved all the products that I got in this month's bag. It was a great "Christmas" gift and the best bag to end the year with. If you're not already subscribed, I suggest you hurry and subscribe to Ipsy. You can use my link here. Ipsy is a great way to try out new products and brands for only $10 a month. You never have to pay shipping and the price never changes. I'll be seeing you lovelies in the new year with January's bag when I get it. From one beauty lover to another, see you soon!
